Jose A. Marengo has B.S. degree in Meteorology, M.Sc. in Water and Land resources and Engineering at at the Universidad Nacional Agraria (1981, 1987) in Lima, Peru and Ph.D. in Meteorology - University of Wisconsin - Madison (1991 ) in USA. He dis post-doctorate research at the the NASA GISS and Columbia University in New York and Florida State University in Florida, USA in climate modelling. Currently he is Senior Scientist at the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He has authored more than 250 publication among articles, chapters of books and books. He is professor at INPE Post Graduate School since 1996. He is a member of several international panels of the United Nations on climate, hydrology and global change change (IPCC, IGBP, IAI.) and is a member of working groups in Brazil and abroad about climate change and global change, . He is Senior Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences.
